Docks-in is scheduled for May 6, with May 13 as a backup date, in case weather. The board is looking for members to serve on the nomination committee. This would be a committee of 2 or 3 members that will talk to all potential board members and evaluate their suitability to serve on the board for 2017. The nomination committee is interviewing for a position on the board. The role is to interview potential candidates and evaluate their suitability to be put forth as potential board members in 2017. That list will be presented to the current board, which will communicate the slate to members prior to the AGM in January for election of the new board in 2017. Please see the detailed description of the role and work of the committee in the attached document.
If you are interested in serving on the nominating committee, please contact me at [email protected] or call me at 780-466-7517. If you are interested in serving on the board you can also forward your interest to me or wait until the chair of the nomination committee is announced and contact that person to express your interest. The June/spring series is being run by Sunshine Bay so we will need no volunteers for that. The dates for the spring series are as follows : 29 May, 7 June, 12 June, 19 June. This is new as we usually run the spring series only in June. The cost is $40 or $10 for a single day. There will be daily winners and an overall winner at the end. Lawrence Lemieux will be holding a Sail trim & racing seminar Saturday 11 June. Saturday 25 June is the Down the Lake race run by EYC. We will hold a BBQ in the evening with people bringing there own meat, we will provide salads, potatoes and desserts. We will need volunteers for the race and dinner if we can get them. Saturday 9 July SBYC will host the Single Handed Race with BBQ to follow. BBQ the same as the down the lake race ie bring your own meat. Sunday 17 July EYC will host the McGregor Race with BBQ to follow. BBQ the same with bring your own meat. This race depends upon how many people sign up. I believe it was cancelled last year due to lack of boats signed up. If it happens this year we will need volunteers. Monday 1 August we have the Dinghy race and will need volunteers. Saturday 20 August is the Jack & Jill race hosted by SBYC with BBQ and dance to follow. The Alberta Cup Regatta hosted by EYC starts Saturday 3 September and ends Sunday 4 with BBQ. A new policy was passed at EYC's February 3, 2016 board meeting. It begins, "If two or more non‐family individuals own a boat in partnership, then each owner must be a member in good standing and own an EYC share in order to access and utilize club resources and facilities." The entire policy is available here and will be included in the EYC Member Handbook this spring.
